We wrote programs on h19 terminals using an editor called h19. Real Studio, or to be more exact the Realbasic language, has made it to the "Next 50 Programming Languages" in the TIOBE Index this month. This was back in the days when all the hippest programmers would argue about the relative merits of C versus Modula-2. I have been using dynamic languages (Smalltalk) since 1993 and Java since 1996, and I started out programming with Modula-2 and C in 1987. Niklaus Wirth and his associates were looking at areas such as modular programming and data abstraction, and they developed two systems which incorporated these elements. Say hello to Ada and Modula-2 for me! Programming Expert Systems in Modula-2 Image by qnr. In 1987, my second year of college, I took two programming classesi, both using Modula-2 on VAX/VMS mainframes. Back in the mid-1980s young programmers were learning C and proud of it, and maybe experimenting with some trendy new languages like Smalltalk and Modula-II, and we would say that FORTRAN was gross. These two systems are Oberon and Modula-2. Better JavaScript performance also means that the excellent C# language will go that much faster into the dustbin of forgotten programming languages. Originally designed and sold in Europe as the Lilith in 1980, the Modula Computer took advantage of Niklaus Wirth's Modula-2 programming language. For those of you Well, RB is doing better than Modula-2 these days ;-).
